Are You Using Ceylon Cinnamon?

December 2, 2018 By mpao Leave a Comment

Believe it or not there is actually a very important difference in the cinnamon that is commonly used and sold at the grocery stores! If you check your cinnamon spice jar, does is it read “Ground Cinnamon” or “Saigon/Vietnamese Cinnamon” or “Ceylon Cinnamon?” Chances are you have Ground Cinnamon or Saigon Cinnamon. Definitely go check, […]

Brown Rice Vs. White Rice

November 12, 2018 By mpao Leave a Comment

Being Japanese, I always grew up eating rice, and it was always white rice. It wasn’t even a question what kind of rice would be served at mealtime. So once I had my own family, it was white rice until my mom started telling me she switched to brown rice. What??? My whole life seemed […]

Coconut Oil…Pure Poison?

September 14, 2018 By mpao Leave a Comment

In the news recently, a Harvard professor (Karin Michels) came out to say in July 2018 that “coconut oil is pure poison.” As some of you know, I have been drinking a tablespoon of coconut oil with my daily coffee for 15 plus years. At the time I started, I was trying to figure out […]

Röder Therapy to the Rescue!

September 6, 2018 By mpao Leave a Comment

After reaching my early thirties without much illness, I found after moving back to Seattle from the Bay Area that things would change forever. Perhaps it was: a.) losing my dad two weeks after moving back b.) the stress of having an 8 month old and 3 year old c.) a weakening immune system d.) all […]

The Past…Diabetes and First Discoveries

September 4, 2018 By mpao Leave a Comment

With the diagnosis of my husband with Type II Diabetes at the age of 34, it was our first exposure to “standard of care” in medicine. Already, he did not meet the “typical” patient as he was a marathon runner weighing in around 155 pounds with a height of  5’10”. But nevermind that, the doctor […]

The Now…Fasting at Buchinger Wilhelmi

September 4, 2018 By mpao 2 Comments

My husband and I have either read about or personally tried (informally) the various forms of fasting currently being written about on the Internet. For him it was a chance to treat his diabetes and for me it was to support him on his journey and to help improve my overall well-being. We have known […]

About This Site

Marsha Pao

This all started by being raised with “old world” traditions in the modern world. My parents would put in place a foundation that I wouldn’t realize or appreciate until having my own family. (Thank you mom and dad!)

After getting married and having children, suddenly life got complicated! There were poop issues (or lack there of), eczema, ear infections, bee stings, more poop issues etc. But it wasn’t until my husband was diagnosed with Type II diabetes at the age of 34 that life would suddenly change. The Western medical establishment was providing advice completely counter to what we were experiencing. It was at that moment that my approach to life and living along with my new role of wife and mother would take a new path.

So what started as research on natural healing for diabetes and eczema led to research in other areas in life. This blog is a culmination of 17 years of researching everything from health to home repair to cooking to crafting. Thank you to everyone for encouraging me to share my years of research to a broader audience. I am excited to take this journey. Moreover, it is also a way of giving back to those early contributors on the Internet that helped people like me!
